BIRDING TOUR OF XMAS DAYS,2020
From 25th December 2020 to 4 days I am on a birding tour in Thrissur District, Kerala.

PAINTED STORK(വർണ്ണക്കൊക്ക്)
Among the water birds of Kerala, the Painted Stork is the most beautiful bird, normally small groups are seen near water bodies, but today from morning surprisingly it is unbelievable, more than five hundred Painted Storks landed on the kole ie Thrissur Kole Wetlands (Malayalam: തൃശൂർ കോൾ പാടങ്ങൾ).
The Kole Wetlands is one of the largest, highly productive, and threatened wetlands in Kerala and it comes in the Central Asian Flyway of migratory birds. It gives 40 per cent of Kerala’s rice requirement and acts as the natural drainage system
Farmers are preparing the paddy field for cultivation. Tractors are on work, the Golden light of morning spreads around, slowly breezing cool winds pouring the special fragrant of Kole wetland muds.
Egrets, Herons, Bitterns, Storks, and Ibis are entring the sene group by group. Water hens, Moorhens Also the Sandpipers, Plovers, and Wild Ducks. The Kites, Harriers, Buzzards, Falcons, and Eagles are soaring, hovering, and flapping around the blue sky. It is quite a normal picture of "Kole} in the months of Dhanu and Makaram, ie middle of December to January, the cultivation starting time
